The wait is over for fans of “KPop Demon Hunters” – Netflix has confirmed a sequel to its most-streamed film.
The sequel will be directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, marking their first project under Netflix’s exclusive multiyear animation writing and directing partnership.
In the announcement, Kang expressed her excitement about returning to the story.
“I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters,” Kang said.
“There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”
Meanwhile, Appelhans noted the creative possibilities ahead, saying that in this film’s new chapter, they will continue to push boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together.
Produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Animation, “Kpop Demon Hunters” follows the story of HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group made up of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey.
By day, they dazzle fans as idols; by night, they fight to protect their fans from supernatural threats.
Their greatest challenge comes in the form of Saja Boys, a rival boy band hiding a dangerous secret — they are demons in disguise.
