As the World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) “WrestleMania 41” approaches, Jey Uso’s journey to the grand stage has sparked a wide range of reactions, but not all of them have been positive.

Despite being one of the most charismatic superstars in WWE, Jey Uso’s road to “WrestleMania” has left many fans frustrated and disillusioned, questioning the direction of his storyline and whether it has lived up to expectations.

What was initially seen as a promising arc for Jey has led to growing dissatisfaction among some sections of the WWE Universe.

An underwhelming build-up

A common gripe among fans is the underwhelming build-up to Jey’s championship match against the decorated Austrian powerhouse, Gunther.

The story of the feud is that Jey is an underdog, and Gunther sees him as a mere mascot that should not be taken seriously.

Gunther’s view is validated by the fact that he has already beaten Jey three times on different occasions.

Some feel that he has not been presented as a credible threat to Gunther, especially with Gunther being dominant in his own right.

Jey’s match with Gunther feels more like a filler than a must-see clash, which is a stark contrast to the excitement generated by other WrestleMania bouts.

The infamous squash

A squash match in wrestling is a type of match where one wrestler dominates their opponent with very little resistance, leading to a quick and one-sided victory.

In this week’s episode of “Monday Night Raw”, Jey squashed Austin Theory in under a minute, but he was unable to hit his finisher properly and fell hard following a somersault outside the ring.

These moves are the core of Jey’s arsenal and seeing him fail them in succession is a worrying sight.

The spear, a staple finisher of the 39-year-old, was hit so awkwardly that commentator Michael Cole called it a cross-body, an entirely different move.

Fans were disappointed with the performance, as a YouTube video of the match was swarmed with negative comments and thousands of dislikes.

“Gunther must retain at WM (WrestleMania), spare some credibility to that title, please,” one fan commented.

“I’m not even an Austin Theory fan, but this match did him dirty,” another fan stated.
