Malaysian musician JessC has become the first Asian artist to earn a spot on Rolling Stone United Kingdom’s prestigious roster of emerging performers, marking a milestone for homegrown music on the world stage.
Bridging borders with every note
The publication has highlighted her ability to create music across multiple languages, with praise for vocals described as heartfelt, powerful, and reassuring.
This latest honour builds on recent international attention, including a feature in Rolling Stone Australia and over 500 mentions across global media and business platforms over the past half-year.
JessC’s team aims to secure 1,000 media features worldwide by December.
Back home, demand for the Malaysian singer’s work is also surging, with her upcoming live performance in Kuala Lumpur on December 20, billed as an intimate and supportive experience for audiences, selling out entirely.
Despite her growing profile, JessC emphasised that her mission extends beyond personal success, noting that her focus is on amplifying her country’s sound internationally.
“It’s never about the numbers – it’s about allowing music from Malaysia to be heard in more places around the world,” she said.

From pop roots to cross-cultural stardom
JessC first captured attention with emotive pop releases that balanced catchy hooks with heartfelt storytelling.
But her ambition soon led her beyond radio-friendly tracks.
She expanded into film soundtracks and original stage musicals, earning acclaim for merging melody with narrative to create immersive experiences that feel both intimate and grand.
Over the years, she has released multiple albums, soundtracks, and singles across Asia, with live performances drawing crowds in Southeast Asia, China and Indonesia.
By 2025, five of her songs had cracked major radio charts across the region, establishing her as a rising force who seamlessly weaves cultural influences into music with global appeal.
Global breakthrough with ‘Six Feet Deep’
It was her June 2025 English single Six Feet Deep that catapulted her onto the world stage.
The track, exploring themes of overcoming adversity and finding hope in darkness, landed on over 250 radio stations and media outlets across 15 countries, including the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Canada, and South Africa.
The song’s success caught the eye of Rolling Stone (Australia/New Zealand), which spotlighted JessC as “a healing voice redefining Asian pop for global audiences.”
The feature cemented her role as an artist who honours her roots while creating music that transcends borders.
