Tunisia and Poland are both heading to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics after securing the last two spots for the continental qualifiers in the men’s indoor volleyball tournament.
Poland, Tunisia, Olympic hosts United States, AVC champions Japan, NORCECA qualifiers Cuba, and South American winners Brazil are the first six nations to qualify for the LA28 men’s volleyball competition.
All six Olympic qualifiers have also earned their respective spots for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup, which will be held in Poland from September 10 to 26.
African champions
Tunisia earned their spot for the Los Angeles Olympics after winning the 2026 CAVB Men’s African Nations Championship against Cameroon at El Menzah Hall in Tunis.
With home fans cheering during the continental championship match, Tunisia’s men’s volleyball team against Cameroon in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19, to secure their LA28 ticket.
Oussama Ben Romdhane, a Tunisian outside hitter, led the scoring department with 19 points, while opposite player Ali Bongui added 11 points for the country’s fight for an Olympic spot.
The LA28 Games will serve as the eighth Olympic appearance for the African champions.
Tunisia’s last appearance in the men’s indoor volleyball tournament was during the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.
The African nation, with the help of FIVB’s continuous FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme, will now head back to Los Angeles to compete for an Olympic medal.

Poland defend European title
Poland also shared the same success with Tunisia last week after winning the 2026 CEV Men’s EuroVolley and securing a direct slot for the upcoming Olympic volleyball tournament.
The country successfully defended their CEV title after beating France in four sets, 31-29, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, at the Unipol Forum in Milan, Italy.
However, the Polish team’s success was not an easy one since 24 nations competed for the continental spot for the 2028 Summer Games.
2025 Volleyball Nations League winner Poland and Olympic gold medallists France were both favoured to win the continental championships, but it was the Polish team who secured the LA28 ticket.
Opposite spiker Bartlomiej Boladz led Poland’s title defence during the championship match, scoring 16 points. Wilfredo Leon and Tomasz Fornal also supported Boladz’s scoring output, both tallying 13 points during the match.
The continental win also secured Poland’s 12th appearance in the Summer Olympics.
They will also head to Los Angeles as top contenders for the Olympic gold medal since the team currently holds the top spot in the latest FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Ranking.
World Cup fever
With Tunisia and Poland completing the continental qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, fans will now shift their focus to next year’s Men’s Volleyball World Cup.
Seventeen men’s teams have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Poland.
Tunisia and Cameroon will be joined by third-placer Algeria as CAVB representatives for the 2027 World Cup, while Poland and France will be competing with EuroVolley semi-finalists Finland and Slovenia.
Slovenia secured a spot for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup despite placing fourth in the CEV Men’s Volleyball European Championship after Poland received an automatic slot as hosts of the international tournament.
The seven teams will also be facing representatives from AVC, NORCECA, and CSV. However, only the top three highest-placed nations who have not yet qualified for the Olympics will secure direct tickets for the Los Angeles Games.
