LA Knight yet again failed to capture a world title as he lost to Roman Reigns in a World Heavyweight Championship match at the Money in the Bank event in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The match was Knight’s fifth opportunity to nab WWE’s top prize and his third world-title bout against Reigns.
His first championship match against Reigns in 2023 was controversial, as “The Tribal Chief” retained his WWE Universal Championship with help from his cousin Jimmy Uso.
However, this time around, Reigns beat Knight clean – although the challenger pushed the champion to the limit in one of Knight’s greatest outings.
Reigns and Knight fight for the belt
The match started in a stalemate, which led to Knight taunting Reigns with a middle finger to catch the champion off guard, and the challenger launched an offence that visibly spooked his opponent.
The match almost turned chaotic early when the two exited the ring and brawled around the squared circle, with Knight trying to utilise the announcer’s desk as a weapon.
But Reigns struck Knight in the head and the two returned to the ring.
Things escalated when Reigns suddenly unleashed a Superman Punch against Knight, but the challenger kicked out at two and a half.
Reigns then looked to end the match with a Spear, but Knight dodged the running Samoan with a Leapfrog and the champion launched himself to the ring post and hurt his shoulder.
Later on, Reigns once again looked for a Spear, but it was countered with a BFT out of nowhere, but the champion surprisingly kicked out, making him the first WWE superstar to survive the dangerous move.

Heartbreak for the valiant Knight
In the final stage of the match, Reigns and Knight fought outside the ring and the champion once again attempted a Spear.
But the alert Knight side-stepped and Reigns came crashing down the barricade.
The Megastar capitalised on the counter-play and Powerbombed Reigns to the announcer’s desk.
Knight then dragged Reigns’ corpse to the ring, and hit him with an Elbow Drop straight to the chest.
However, it was not enough as Reigns kicked out yet again from Knight’s pinfall attempt.
Knight then positioned himself for another BFT, but Reigns countered and hit the challenger with two Superman Punches and a Spear to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
