The final trailer for “Coyote vs. Acme” has been released, giving audiences a preview of the live-action/animated comedy that was once shelved before being rescued for a theatrical debut on August 28.
The film, which nearly became a tax write-off under Warner Bros. Discovery, has since found new life after Ketchup Entertainment acquired its distribution rights in March 2025.
The trailer arrives ahead of the movie’s first public screening at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on July 25.
Wile E. Coyote heads to court
The two-minute preview centers on the long-suffering Wile E. Coyote, whose endless attempts to catch the Road Runner repeatedly fail because of malfunctioning Acme products.
After watching an advertisement from a struggling billboard lawyer portrayed by Will Forte, Coyote decides to sue Acme Corporation, setting up a legal showdown against the company’s lead attorney, played by John Cena.
The trailer presents the courtroom battle as a David-versus-Goliath story while retaining the slapstick humor that has defined the classic Looney Tunes franchise.
Familiar faces return
Alongside Coyote and Road Runner, the trailer features appearances from other iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, and Foghorn Leghorn, who is portrayed as Acme’s flamboyant Southern lawyer.
The preview also showcases the franchise’s signature comedic chaos, including exploding gadgets, falling anvils, and elaborate mishaps tied to Acme’s faulty inventions.
Joining Forte and Cena in the cast are Lana Condor, Tone Bell, P.J. Byrne, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán.
Almost a tax write-off
The film attracted widespread attention after Warner Bros. Discovery initially shelved the completed project, prompting backlash from filmmakers and movie fans.
The decision was later reversed, allowing the producers to seek another distributor.
Directed by Dave Green, “Coyote vs. Acme” was written by Samy Burch from a story by Burch, James Gunn, and Jeremy Slater.
Gunn and Chris DeFaria serve as producers.
