TWICE vocalist Jeongyeon has officially ended her more than ten-year journey with JYP Entertainment, announcing the news on Monday through a heartfelt handwritten letter addressed to fans worldwide.
The decision closes a chapter that began when she joined the agency as a teenager, growing from a hopeful trainee into one of K-pop’s most beloved vocalists.
“After spending a long time together with JYP since my teenage years until now, I am planning to leave and start anew in a new place,” the artist shared, as quoted by Korean Times.
Group commitment remains unchanged
Jeongyeon moved immediately to reassure supporters that her transition to a new agency does not affect her bond with TWICE.
“Although I am moving my home base and starting a new challenge, TWICE, which is the most important center within me, will remain unchanged as it is now,” she affirmed.
New chapter at Baro Entertainment
On the very same day, the K-pop star signed an exclusive contract with Baro Entertainment, the agency that already represents her older sister, acclaimed actress Gong Seung-yeon.
Baro Entertainment welcomed her arrival with an official statement.
“We are sincerely delighted to form a precious bond with Jung Ye-jeong, who possesses diverse charm and infinite potential,” it said.
The agency pledged comprehensive backing across every area of her work.
“As a reliable partner, we will provide unwavering support in all aspects to ensure that Jung Ye-jeong can smoothly continue not only her new challenges as an artist based on the global presence she has built over many years as an artist, but also her group activities.”
Gratitude and excitement for the future
Jeongyeon also looked ahead with warmth and determination.
“There will be many more times we can create together in the future, so I will work hard to fill these precious moments even more beautifully,” she promised.
The separation follows a landmark 2022 agreement in which all nine TWICE members renewed their group contracts with JYP Entertainment, securing the group’s future together while allowing each member to pursue individual activities under separate representation.

From debut to global stardom
Jeongyeon debuted with TWICE in October 2015 alongside Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
The group earned the nickname “The Nation’s Girl Group” and rose to become one of the best-selling and most influential K-pop acts in history.
Their breakthrough single “Cheer Up” dominated year-end charts and earned “Song of the Year” honours, launching them into mainstream stardom.
They made their Billboard Hot 100 debut in 2021 with the all-English track “The Feels”, and in 2023 received the Breakthrough Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event.
Most recently, TWICE wrapped their massive “This Is For” world tour with a high-energy finale performance in Seoul.
