9Works Theatrical will bring the world of Arendelle to the Philippines as it stages Disney’s ‘Frozen: The Broadway Musical’ in Manila in April 2027.
The local theater company made the announcement on its Instagram page, with simply “UP NEXT…” as the caption for the video teaser.
It will be held at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. However, details about the cast, creative team, performance dates, and tickets are not yet available.
Based on the 2013 fan-favorite film ‘Frozen’, the musical will explore the story of sisters Anna and Elsa as they navigate their complicated relationship amid the challenges brought on by Elsa’s hidden powers.
New songs
It features songs written and composed by Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, with a book by Jennifer Lee, who also wrote and co-directed the original movie.
Apart from iconic songs ‘Let It Go’, ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman’, ‘For the First Time in Forever’, and ‘Love is an Open Door’, there are also new songs that were specially written for the stage, including ‘Monster’, ‘Dangerous to Dream’, and ‘What Do You Know About Love?’.
‘Frozen’ made its Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre in March 2018, with director Michael Grandage. It starred Caissie Levy (Elsa), Patti Murin (Anna), Jelani Alladin (Kristoff), and John Riddle (Hans).
