Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen celebrated on Wednesday the 10th anniversary of her widely popular third studio album “Emotion” with a one-night-only concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, where she announced the re-release of the record on October 17.

The synth-heavy, 80s-inspired album, released on June 24, 2015, in Japan and on August 21 worldwide, followed the success of Jepsen’s viral 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe.”

While it was considered a commercial flop in terms of sales, music critics praised “Emotion” as being “catchy” and “unapologetically pop”, with the record bringing together fans of her earlier works.

“As such, she proudly presents the definitive version of her pop opus now,” the announcement from her label reads.

Several unreleased tracks included

The artist said the reissue will include previously unreleased tracks “More”, “Guardian Angel”, “Back Of My Heart” and “Lost In Devotion”, as well as two remixes of the smash hit “Run Away With Me” by Kyle Shearer and Rostam, who worked on the album a decade ago.

“Cut To The Feeling”, her single for the Canadian-French film “Ballerina” (2016), is also included in the re-release, years after not having its home album.

It is known that Jepsen wrote more than 250 songs during the inception of “Emotion”, and the 10th anniversary re-release is not the first time that the artist has given her fans a taste of her treasure trove of unreleased tracks.

Jepsen hints at ‘Emotion: Side C?’

During the Troubadour concert, she acknowledged speculation online about the release of a C-side, a reference to her critically acclaimed EP “Emotion: Side B”, a companion piece to “Emotion” released a year after the album on August 26, 2016.

Like its parent album, “Emotion: Side B” received generally favourable reviews from publications, describing it as more of a “continuation” rather than a B-side collection.

“Side B” features tracks like the synth-funk “First Time”, as well as “Store”, which features a reworked composition from an anti-smoking campaign she created for her home province of British Columbia.

Earlier, on the fifth anniversary of “Emotion” in August 2020, Jepsen released the album’s deluxe expanded edition for streaming, featuring much-requested songs “Never Get To Hold You” and “Love Again”.

Then, during her LA concert, she dropped “More” on streaming, serving as the promo single for the 10th anniversary re-release.

The track revolves around the singer’s battle with her morals as she fights her feelings for a man who already has a girlfriend.
