Teen TV phenomenon Euphoria has announced an incredible array of stars – including the returning Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya – for its upcoming third season, which is set to premiere in 2026.

Season 2 aired back in 2022 and left viewers with a shocking plot twist at the end of the last episode.

Four years on, Euphoria returns in grand style with a fresh batch of storylines and a number of new faces, which will reportedly raise the series to a new level of quality.

Writer and director Sam Levinson, meanwhile, has described the upcoming season as a “film noir” and told Elle in 2023 that he planned to “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world”.

Not just for teens

Season 3 links up with the protagonists of the cult TV show after a time jump of approximately five years, thus setting the scene for a completely different environment from previous outings.

In that, the show’s beloved characters will finally be out of high school.

“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world,” Zendaya told IndieWire

“There’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” she added.

The time jump might explain the casting of so many new – and older – actors, including Natasha Lyonne, Eli Roth, Gideon Adlon, and YouTube personality Trisha Paytas, amongst others.

They join previously announced new entries such as Sharon Stone, Spanish singer Rosalia, and Anna Van Patten.

The original cast will also come back in its entirety, with Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo all reprising their roles.

Earlier this month, Elordi had teased the third season, saying: “It was incredibly liberating. I got to play something so sort of far out from what I’ve done before.

“It’s incredibly clever and cinematic. I think people are really going to like it.”
