Travellers visiting northern Philippines will soon be able to explore Tabuk City’s cultural, natural, and recreational sites with the help of a new digital tourism platform.

Currently under development, the tourism web application will allow visitors to access detailed guides to key destinations in Tabuk, including interactive 360-degree virtual tours, maps, and practical trip-planning information.

Digital guide to attractions and local experiences

According to the city tourism office, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency, the app will feature recommendations for accommodations, restaurants, and upcoming events such as local festivals, trekking routes, and off-road activities.

It will also highlight local products and provide information on where to purchase them.

User-generated content – including reviews and travel experiences – will be incorporated to give prospective visitors insights from previous tourists.

The app is being developed in collaboration with Kalinga State University and is funded through the Department of Science and Technology as part of Tabuk’s smart city programme.

Implementation and management

Once complete, the platform will be handed over to the Tabuk Smart City Hub and managed jointly by the City Public Information Office and the City Information and Communications Technology Office.

Officials said the app represents a step toward integrating technology into tourism management, offering visitors a more convenient and informative experience while promoting the city’s heritage, local products, and recreational activities.

By leveraging digital tools, Tabuk City aims to attract a wider audience of both domestic and international travellers and to enhance the visibility of its natural, cultural, and recreational assets in a competitive tourism landscape.
