LEGO reveal their biggest ‘Lord of the Rings’ set with ‘Minas Tirith’

Lego Minas Tirith

On Tuesday, LEGO revealed their largest ‘Lord of the Rings’ set to date in the form of the majestic White City of Minas Tirith, releasing in June.

The collector’s piece was announced at a recent showcase in Billund, Denmark, in partnership with Warner Bros.

The set will contain 8,278 pieces, significantly overtaking other ‘Lord of the Rings’ sets like Rivendell and Barad-dûr and joining the company of LEGO’s largest builds.

The announcement comes in time for the 25th anniversary of Peter Jackson’s iconic films, adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary fantasy franchise.

A massive reveal

The striking city is worthy of the 8000-piece scale, as it is an integral location in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ story and Jackson’s films.

The LEGO recreation of the capital city of Gondor is true to its cinematic appearance, from its bright street layers to its mountaintop citadel.

The towering set is reportedly 59cm tall and 62cm wide, making it a hefty occupant of your shelf space.

Its impressive size competes amongst LEGO’s largest sets, yet still fails to overtake the 9000-piece Star Wars Death Star.

Details about the set

LEGO described the set as a hybrid microscale and minifigure-scale build.

The exterior is designed at a detailed microscale to capture the layered rockface city, but it also opens up to reveal an interior with multiple rooms, proportionate to a LEGO minifigure.

Speaking of minifigures, it features a notable array of iconic characters.

Gandalf the White, Aragorn, Arwen, Denethor, Faramir, and Pippin are featured from the main ensemble, and are joined by four Gondorian soldiers and Gandalf’s horse, Shadowfax.

Purchasing ‘Minas Tirith’

The set will be available on June 4 2026, with LEGO Insiders getting early access from June 1.

Purchases of the set until June 7 also include a themed ‘Gift with Purchase’ with the 300-piece Grond battering ram set in participating countries.

‘Minas Tirith’ is priced at £579.99, €649.99, and $649.99.
