A rare albino buffalo, nicknamed “Donald Trump,” has been given new life because of its resemblance to the United States president.
According to farm owner Ziauddin Mridha, who takes care of the buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump,” his younger brother noticed the similarity and gave its name.
It had been scheduled for customary sacrifice as part of the celebrations for the Eid al-Adha holiday.
However, citing security concerns following a spike in public interest, the buffalo – known for its characteristic blond tuft – was rescued from the sacrifice, according to a Home Ministry official on Wednesday.
Symbolic name
“It is just a symbolic name, and we gave it out of affection and fondness,” Mridha stated.
Mridha added that the animal requires meticulous maintenance, such as frequent feedings and baths, and is exceptionally gentle.
Albino buffaloes are uncommon in Bangladesh, where the majority of cattle are black.
Buffalo to remain at zoo
The buffalo, along with more than 2,000 other animals from 191 species, will continue to be on public display at Bangladesh’s National Zoo in Dhaka, according to officials.
The buffalo was relocated to the national zoo in Dhaka and the buyer received a refund.
The “Donald Trump buffalo” rapidly became an internet celebrity thanks to images and videos of the albino buffalo with its wispy golden tresses, which are frequently shown perfectly combed by its owners.
Tourists have also travelled from all over the world to witness the animal on the farm where it resides in Narayanganj, close to Dhaka.
The buffalo will now be monitored as part of a programme designed to preserve rare genetic characteristics, according to the Bangladesh National Zoo.
According to the curator, Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman, personnel would keep a careful eye on the animal’s nutrition, health, and potential for reproduction.
