Thousands descended on Sefton Park in Liverpool this weekend for the Radio 1 Big Weekend, with the great British weather offering music fans a very mixed bag.
Coming the same weekend that Liverpool FC received their Premier League trophy at Anfield, the city was abuzz with joy and music.
Festival opening lives up to the hype
The first day of the festival saw local acts The Wombats and DJ James Hype entertain the crowd on the main stage before big guns Biffy Clyro and headliner Tom Grennan took over proceedings.
Wirral DJ Hype was in his element entertaining the sun-drenched crowds with fan favourites such as “Ferrari”.
The 35-year-old spoke of his love of Liverpool and how he used to “skip school and get the bus over”.
By the time Lionheart singer Grennan arrived, so had the rain.
Fans in ponchos danced around and were treated to guest appearances from YouTuber KSI, Spice Girl Mel C, and local band The Zutons.
Mel C received a mixed reaction from the crowd, with some even booing her appearance.
Users on social media mused this was due to her interviews with tabloid newspaper The Sun, a paper banned in Liverpool due to its derogatory Hilsborough coverage.

Secret set thrills crowds
Saturday saw the festival really ramp up the star power with a scheduled ‘secret set’ turning out to be superstar singer Ed Sheeran.
Thousands thronged the New Music tent when the announcement went out, quickly leading to maximum capacity being reached and many being left disappointed outside.
Festivalgoers complained that the “Shape of You” singer should have been on the main stage so more people could have seen his performance.
“The queues to get in were mental,” said one attendee.
The singer had the tent in the palm of his hand for 60 minutes as he sang his hits with just the help of his guitar.
Tom Odell, Sugababes, Myles Smith, Blossoms, and Wolf Alice performed on the main stage throughout the day, keeping the locals happy on a slightly grey day.
The evening was rounded out by a spectacular performance from headliner Sam Fender.
His performance contained crowd favourite hits “Seventeen Going Under” and “Hypersonic Missiles” and had fans chanting into the night.
Fireworks and confetti closed out the show.

Festival finale
Sunday then saw the park play host to headline act Mumford & Sons as well as Haim, Wet Leg, Jorja Smith, Lola Young, and Tate McRae.
Self Esteem and Jade, meanwhile, took to the New Music stage.
With strong winds forecast across the city for Sunday, festivalgoers had to keep a tight hold of those bucket hats.
Over 100,000 music fans were expected over the three-day weekend, with the usually green space being transformed into a music lover’s paradise complete with giant ferris wheel.
