Marvel Studios has shared a special trailer for ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’, a re-release of the 2019 blockbuster ahead of its sequel, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, later this year.
Upon its initial release, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ shattered global box office records and momentarily held the number one spot in the highest grossing films list.
The highly anticipated film concluded 10 years of storytelling in Marvel’s juggernaut superhero cinematic universe.
Screenings of the film were an unrivaled cinema-going event and clips of audience reactions cheering for pivotal story moments took over the internet.
In this new trailer, Marvel advertises the opportunity to relive the experience on 25 September with the special presentation, ‘Encore’.
A cinematic experience like no other
The film’s re-release in cinemas provides a unique way to relive one of modern cinema’s most notable events, and fans can’t help but reminisce on the bygone era.
In the YouTube comments of the new trailer, users fawned over the hype around the film at the time.
“Endgame fever hit different in 2019. Nobody was safe from the hype.”
“Opening day for this was the most hype I’ve ever seen for any movie. What a time this was.”
Others pitied those who missed out on the occasion.
“MCU during the Infinity Saga was one of those ‘you had to be there’ things. Absolute peak cinema.”
“I really feel bad for anyone who didn’t experience this in theaters the first go round.”
Additionally, commenters quoted the film and expressed their excitement to return to cinemas and watch it all over again.
A new look
Besides screening the iconic blockbuster for audiences to re-experience, the special trailer also promises a new look with ‘Encore’.
Some fans online have pointed out that the trailer features revised colour-grading, with scenes like the final battle portals and Iron Man’s snap seemingly boasting more vibrant visuals.
Additionally, a major selling point being emphasised is a “first look” of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, set to release at the end of the year on 18 December.
The fifth Avengers film, which somehow includes even more characters than its predecessor, seemingly addresses the consequences of the heroes’ time-travelling actions in ‘Endgame’.
Another shot at the record?
While the re-release has been met with a lot of excitement, another blunt fact has been pointed out: ‘Endgame’ is an easy cash cow.
‘Encore’ will undoubtedly generate a lot of nostalgic revenue and add to the immense financial success of the film’s original release.
It also provides an extra layer to the feud between ‘Endgame’ and James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, the current highest grossing film which ‘Endgame’ dethroned before it too celebrated a re-release.
Although ‘Encore’ is a special event for fans and an exciting way to prepare for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, it also marks another attempt to reclaim the film’s number one spot in the box office.
Nevertheless, nostalgic cinemagoers, diehard Marvel fans and anybody who missed out on the hype at the time will surely be seated to relive the epic conclusion.
‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ releases in cinemas on 25 September.
