Every hero needs a villain. Link just found his. Nintendo and Sony’s upcoming live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film has officially cast Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf, the long-running antagonist of the beloved fantasy franchise and one of gaming’s most recognizable villains.
The casting announcement finally answers one of the biggest questions surrounding the adaptation, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 30, 2027.
The King of Evil arrives
Australian actor Latukefu will portray Ganondorf, the recurring nemesis who has spent decades tormenting Link, Princess Zelda, and the kingdom of Hyrule across multiple games.
The character remains one of Nintendo’s most iconic villains, serving as the primary threat in entries ranging from “Ocarina of Time” to “Tears of the Kingdom.”
Reports indicate that Latukefu has signed a multi-picture deal, suggesting Ganondorf could play a major role beyond a single film.

More faces join Hyrule
The casting news also confirmed several additional additions to the movie’s lineup.
Yvonne Strahovski, Dichen Lachman, and the late Sam Neill have all joined the project.
While most roles remain under wraps, Lachman is reportedly set to play Impa, the trusted advisor and protector closely associated with Princess Zelda throughout the games.
