Conversations between Martin Scorsese and the late Pope Francis will be featured in the documentary “Aldeas – A New Story” which is considered the Pope’s last interview for a movie.

The documentary was revealed by Sikelia Productions and Aldeas Scholas Film, who stated that the film would be “a testament to the enduring belief that creativity is not only a means of expression but a path to hope and transformation.”

‘Aldeas – A New Story’

In “Aldeas – A New Story,” the work of Scholas Occurrentes – a global, non-profit organisation established by the pope in 2013 to encourage what it called a “Culture of Encounter” among young people – will be discussed.

Both Scholas Occurrentes’ Aldeas movement and the film “Aldeas – A New Story” are independently funded by foreign donors and sponsors, guaranteeing that all earnings are used to grow the project internationally.

In the documentary, young people from Italy, Indonesia, and the Gambia will be shown participating in the program and creating short films.

Conversations between Pope Francis and Scorsese that have never been seen before will be woven into the behind-the-scenes tales of these shorts.

“‘Aldeas’ is an extremely poetic and very constructive project because it goes to the roots of what human life is, human sociability, human conflicts…the essence of a life’s journey,” Pope Francis remarked in a statement prior to his death.

The movie’s release date was not announced.
