Taylor Swift’s sparkling new era is almost here – but are you ready for it?

The Grammy Award-winning singer announced her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, will hit the shelves on October 3. This follows her surprising appearance on Wednesday’s episode of the “New Heights” sports podcast, co-hosted by footballer boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason.

The episode – which marked her first interview in nearly two years – has so far racked up more than seven million views on YouTube.

Shortly before the podcast was released, Swift took to Instagram to share the album’s collage-like cover art, which shows her submerged in water, clad in a crystal-embellished bodice and sparkly bracelets.

“And, baby, that’s show business for you,” she wrote.

“New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3.”

TS12

Dubbed TS12 by fans, “The Life of a Showgirl” follows last year’s “The Tortured Poets Department”. It also marks her reunion with Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, known for producing “Shake It Off”, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, and “Blank Space”, among other chart-toppers.

The album will only have 12 tracks, including a titular song featuring fellow pop star and self-proclaimed Swiftie Sabrina Carpenter, as well as a cover of George Michael’s 1987 hit, “Father Figure”.

Swift said the album was influenced by her life on the road during her two-year, sold-out Eras Tour.

“[This] album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” she told the podcast.

“And it just comes from like the most infectiously, joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life.”

On reclaiming her masters

The two-hour podcast also delved into Swift’s acquisition of her master recordings – from her 2006 self-titled album to 2017’s “Reputation” – from private equity group Shamrock Capital in May.

Shamrock bought the masters from music executive Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings in 2019.

Swift said she met with her team after wrapping up The Eras Tour, and they decided it might be a “good time” to approach Shamrock and finally reclaim her masters.

According to the singer, she sent her mother and brother – instead of her lawyers – to Los Angeles to negotiate with Shamrock’s current owners on her behalf.

“What I was looking to do though was I wanted to buy my music outright,” she added.

“I don’t wanna be in a partnership. I don’t wanna own 30 percent of it. I want it, I wanna own all of it.”
