London’s renowned Time Out magazine has named the Golden Bridge in Da Nang city, Vietnam, one of the world’s 19 most beautiful bridges.

“The weathered stone hands holding Vietnam’s Golden Bridge may hint at historical significance, but this tourist attraction was made for the social media age,” Time Out wrote in a recent article.

“The 150-meter walkway (known locally as Cau Vang) opened in 2018 and floats around the mountainous Ba Na Hills resort overlooking the city of Da Nang.”

“A cable car ride transports visitors to the bridge-as-tourist-attraction, located roughly 1,000m above sea level, alongside kitschy attractions like a roller coaster and French-inspired villas,” the magazine added.

The top three bridges are the Stari Most in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Double Decker Root Bridge in India, and the Victoria Falls Bridge in Zimbabwe.

Three primary criteria – unique architectural design, harmony with the surrounding landscape, and influence in international media – are used to build the rankings.

Unique mountain-top walkway

The Golden Bridge opened to the public in June 2018 after being constructed between 2017 and 2018.

Instead of being a traditional river-crossing bridge, its design as a mountain-top pedestrian walkway provides a unique experience and adds to the structure’s distinctive identity.

Since its opening, tourists have been captivated by its stunning architecture, breathtaking surroundings, European-style buildings, and entertainment venues.

Architecture and tourism spotlights

The bridge, one of Da Nang’s most prominent landmarks, has frequently been featured in international architecture and tourism magazines.

In 2018, Time magazine named it one of the world’s 100 greatest places, while CNN Travel named it one of the year’s top travel photos.

American news site Insider named it one of the world’s 28 most stunning bridges in 2020, and Agora awarded one of its aerial photographs a top photography prize.

In 2021, the bridge was recognized as a top new tourist destination by the World Travel Awards and ranked first on the Daily Mail’s list of the world’s new wonders.

The new 2026 Time Out honor reiterates the bridge’s appeal and highlights the city’s increasingly strong significance on the world tourism map.
