Bronson Reed returned from injury to put a stop to Oba Femi during his match against Bron Breakker at Sunday Night’s Main Event at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Reed, who was sporting a much more muscular and lean look, was sidelined for seven months after suffering a biceps tear at the February 23 episode of Raw.
He made his mark during the match, which was hyped up as a bout that “will determine who is the future of WWE.”
Breakker and Femi have been at loggerheads since SummerSlam, as the two young stars are fighting over being the future of the company.
Femi vs Breakker
The match between the 28-year-olds marked their first official meeting in the squared circle in a one-versus-one setting.
Femi got the upper hand in the opening, tackling Breakker who was trying to charge at him.
The Nigerian further asserted dominance when he stopped Breakker’s offence with a chop to the chest that was heard across the arena.
“That was not the sound of one human hitting another. It should never make that sound,” commentator Wade Barrett stated.
Breaker strikes back
However, the 113-kilogramme Breakker got his offence in when he launched himself at Femi with a Flying Clothesline, sending him over the announcer’s desk.
Breakker, who is the son of wrestling legend Rick Steiner, was in control from then on.
With the crowd all shouting “Oba,” he bounced back when he quickly retaliated after Breakker tossed him with a Release German Suplex.
However, Austin Theory, The Vision teammate of Breakker and Reed, appeared to try to attack Femi, but he intercepted the ambush and slammed Theory on the announcer’s desk.
The distraction was enough for Breakker to hit his opponent with two Spears, but Femi kicked out of a pinfall attempt.
The Auszilla returns
The Vision’s shenanigans were not over, as their manager Maxxine Dupri handed Breakker brass knuckles.
Femi once again thwarted the sabotage by tossing Breakker, but Reed finally made his return and attacked Femi with a steel chair to the back.
The Australian powerhouse struck The Ruler four times with the chair and hit him with multiple Tsunami Splashes.
With the match ending in a disqualification, The Vision continued to assault Femi until officials from backstage stopped the brutal onslaught.
