BLACKPINK on August 8 celebrated a decade since its debut while responding to fan criticisms over the limited and last-minute anniversary plans.
The milestone initially drew frustration from BLINKs (the name of the group’s fandom), who criticized the lack of announcements and activities ahead of the celebration.
A small fan meet-and-greet was announced only two days before the said date, with just 40 fans selected to attend.
The sudden news also raised concerns that the group’s 10th anniversary was not being given significance in the way fans expected.

BLACKPINK responds with special gathering
In response to the backlash, BLACKPINK proceeded with a special gathering in Seoul, bringing Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa together for a rare domestic fan appearance.
The four members met with selected fans to commemorate their decade-long journey and celebrate the occasion together.
They also reunited for a live broadcast through Weverse, where they greeted fans as a full group, reflected on reaching their 10th year and expressed their appreciation for BLINKs and shared heartfelt messages with them.
During the broadcast, the members made heart gestures while apologizing for disappointing fans.
Jisoo sorry for lack of communication
Jisoo also directly addressed the controversy, offering an apology for the group’s shortcomings in preparing for the milestone. She said the members had wanted to meet with many people and recognized the importance of the anniversary, but acknowledged that there had been problems with communication.
“Thank you for celebrating our 10th anniversary, and I’m sorry once again for causing you such disappointment,” the 31-year-old wrote on Weverse.
“I always want to tell you how grateful I am and how much I love you,” she added.
Jisoo expressed regret for causing disappointment and thanked fans for continuing to support BLACKPINK.
Despite the controversy surrounding the celebrations, the anniversary ultimately became an opportunity for the group to reconnect with fans and reaffirm their gratitude.
After ten years of music, performances and global achievements, BLACKPINK’s milestone was marked not only by celebration, but also by an acknowledgment of the expectations and loyalty of the fans who have supported them throughout their career.
