Former NCT and WayV member Lucas Wong is set to make his acting debut in the Taiwanese drama “A Time,” portraying the younger version of a character played by Meteor Garden star Jerry Yan.
The series was presented at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest on November 8, with director Tsao Jui-yuan introducing a cast that includes Ning Chang, Chen Yi-han, Wu Kang-ren and Liang Cheng-chun, according to Variety.
Inspired by Taiwan’s campus folk music movement of the 1970s, the drama explores how the lives of five friends change over four decades.
The story follows Si Mao, played by Lucas in his younger years, whose life is interrupted by an accident that leaves him unconscious for decades.
While Si Mao remains in a coma, his friends face personal struggles, complicated relationships and unresolved guilt.
Their eventual reunion brings painful memories and hidden truths from their youth back to the surface.
Lucas shares first acting experience
During the presentation, Lucas spoke about the challenges of taking on his first acting project and the experience of working with seasoned performers.
“Being able to work with such an outstanding cast on my first acting project taught me so much,” Lucas said, as quoted by Variety.
“I also learned diving, guitar and dancing for the role. This performance has been a very meaningful experience for me.”
The actor joined fellow younger cast members Suri Lin, Fandy Fan, Iain Lu and Joseph Huang in performing the Taiwanese folk song “Seasonal Rain” during the event.
Director Tsao also praised the younger performers for their dedication, noting the difficulty of finding actors who could convincingly portray the characters in their earlier years.

A new chapter beyond K-pop
In an October interview with Taiwan’s Liberty Times, Lucas discussed his decision to explore acting after previously receiving encouragement to pursue opportunities outside music.
According to the publication, he approached the audition as a chance to gain experience, regardless of whether he secured the role.
“Even if I fail, it will be a very worthwhile lesson in life,” Lucas said.
Lucas made his K-pop debut in 2018 as a member of SM Entertainment’s boy group NCT before joining its China-based subunit WayV in 2019.
He subsequently pursued solo activities before leaving SM Entertainment.
‘A Time’ targets 2027 premiere
According to Variety, Tsao spent eight years developing the drama, which brings together actors portraying the same characters at different stages of their lives.
Taiwanese broadcaster TVBS reported that the production has a budget of approximately NT$200 million (about US$6.1 million), with Ning Chang also taking on an executive producer role.
The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
