John Cena and Randy Orton are set to rekindle their rivalry, as they lock horns on the upcoming World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) event “Backlash” on May 10 for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The match comes after Cena restated his goal of “ruining wrestling” on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, following his victory against the then-champion Cody Rhodes in night two of “WrestleMania 41”.

His victory against Rhodes made him the only 17-time world champion in WWE, beating Ric Flair’s record of 16 world title reigns.

“I know you will decide another champion.”

“But the title held by Bruno Sammartino, the title held by Roman Reigns for over a thousand days, the title taken from me in Chicago by CM Punk, the title held by Triple H, ‘The Game,’ ‘The Heartbreak’ Kid Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin comes home with me!” Cena stated.

Cena made the fiery statement as he looks to end his career as WWE’s “last real champion” with his retirement at the end of this year.

Orton then slowly crawled into the ring, and gave the newly-crowned champion an “RKO”, setting his sights on the undisputed belt.

Orton seeks glory

On the week’s Friday Night SmackDown, the two WWE greats formally met in the ring, with Orton seeking an explanation to Cena’s recent change of attitude and blasted his quest to ruin wrestling.

“You want to ‘ruin wrestling’? Wrestling has given me everything… You’re not going to ruin wrestling, not over my dead body,” Orton exclaimed.

Cena then reiterated his intentions of being the company’s “last real champion”, stating: “Yes, there will be another show, you will have other matches, they will create some tin foil title and decide a champion.”

“And if you’re lucky to ever get your hands on it your counter starts over at one,” Cena said, referring to Orton’s own impressive record at 14 world championship reigns.

After their back-and-forth, Cena then said that he will face Orton at “Backlash,” which will be held in Orton’s hometown of St Louis, Missouri.

The segment ended as Cena tried to blindside Orton, but “The Viper” countered with an “RKO” once again.
