After the conclusion of the Traveler’s story in Natlan and the fourth Lantern Rite, Hoyoverse unveiled on Friday a more laid-back update for Genshin Impact.

Version 5.4 takes players back to Inazuma with new characters, an original main event, and overworld interactions for all characters.

Fresh characters set to be introduced

In a live stream on Friday night, Hoyoverse showed a sneak peek of Yumemizuki Mizuki, a 5-star Anemo Catalyst user from Inazuma who will become playable after the upcoming update.

Mizuki is described as a shareholder of the Aisa Bathhouse as well as a clinical psychologist “dedicated to the dispersal of nightmares and to bringing people peace of mind”.

Her character is based on the baku, a Japanese mythological creature said to have the power to devour nightmares.

The teaser also showed Mizuki being a childhood friend and a rival of Yae Miko, the head of Inazuma’s Grand Narukami Shrine and the boss of Yae Publishing House.

Also revealed was a new story quest for Mizuki, with it suggested that Miko and Inazuma’s Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun, will be involved.

Regarding her kit, Mizuki is a healer that can group opponents, heal party members, and buff Swirl reactions based on her Elemental Mastery.

Mizuki will also be included in the game’s Standard Banner after the new update.

In addition, three Fontaine characters – Sigewinne, Furina and Wriothesley – will have their re-runs.

Sigewinne will feature alongside Mizuki during the first half, while Furina and Wriothesley will become available in the second half.

New main event on the cards

Regarding Version 5.4’s main event, “The Enchanted Tales of the Mikawa Festival” will take the Traveler back to Inazuma for the titular festival where humans and yokai gather.

This time, the event showcases a game development contest in which players can try different offerings, ranging from a 2D platformer-type minigame to a batting one.

The major reward is an exclusive 4-star Polearm, Tamayuratei No Ohanashi, as well as refinement materials, Primogems, and much more.

Another major event is “Travelers’ Tales: Anthology Chapter” where players can interact with companions from across Teyvat’s six regions.

Other events include the combat-focused “Realm of Tempered Valor”, the fishing game “Invasive Fish Wrangler”, and a re-run of the directing/editing minigame “Reel Ad-Venture”.

For the “Genius Invokation” card game mode, the teaser revealed two new character cards, including Arlecchino and Kinich.

Other updates

Hoyoverse further revealed major quality-of-life updates.

One of the updates includes a more streamlined Training Guide, which enables players to track collected items in order to level up their characters more efficiently.

Players will also be able to filter characters by element, sort weapons by their sub-stats, and manage the Serenitea Pot housing system more easily.

Genshin Impact Version 5.4 is set to go live on February 12 and last until March 26.
