A late header from Jake O’Brien salvaged a draw for Everton at Brentford to extend their unbeaten league run to seven matches.
David Moyes’ side responded well to a first-half Yoanne Wissa goal, leaving West London with a deserved point.
Goalscorer Jake O’Brien spoke to TNT Sports after receiving his Player of the Match award and praised his manager, saying: “We know what he was going to be like. He’s been top, he knows the club inside out.”
He added: “He’s implemented a way he wants to play – a more attacking style of football, and I think you’ve seen that over the last few weeks, he’s been excellent.”
The Irishman spoke about the draw, saying: “It was very hard (to get back into the game), we knew it was going to be hard, not many players to come on – everyone’s stuck in it together and we have come away with a point.”
Delighted
Furthermore, O’Brien was delighted to get his first goal for Everton, saying: “It’s important to score goals in games like this and to come away with something – I’m happy.”
Everton manager Moyes also chatted with TNT Sports after the match and said he was ‘happy with the result. ”
He added: “I haven’t got a great record here; Beto had three 1 on 1s, so it could have been more.
“I was really disappointed with the players at half-time – to concede from that set-piece. We didn’t deal with it well enough.”

Team progression
Moyes praised Jake O’Brien on his goal and progression in the team, adding: “It’s a brilliant goal. I think Jake’s really learning – he’s a centre-back playing right-back.
“He’s a young boy, still getting experience – he’s done really well.”
Moyes also gave an account on his return to Everton, steering the club away from relegation.
“There is no secret I don’t want to be battling relegation, I want to be competing for Europe – where I have been for the last three years (at West Ham),” said Moyes.
“It’s made a lot easier that I know a lot of people in the club as well.”
He added jokingly: “Seamus Coleman’s been great because he knows what happened before and probably warned the players.
“When I came in, Everton were in a terrible position, and we’ve eased that now.
“If it wasn’t Everton, I don’t think I would’ve done it for any others (take a job in a relegation battle). (It) was the only one where I had an inkling that I may come back, but I didn’t expect Sean (Dyche) to be sacked.
“When it happened, I was like ‘was I going to take it, was I not?’ but I love the club.”
New things happening
Moyes also spoke of his excitement for Everton’s future, saying: “(There is) a lot of new things happening at Everton, new stadium on horizon.
“Everybody is wanting a new team with new owners in place. At the moment, we want to talk positively and look forward, things are going to get much better.”
The Scotsman is still convinced that Everton aren’t safe yet despite opening a 15-point gap on the bottom three.
He said: “The first job is to make sure we’re a Premier League team – this point was another step a lot closer to making sure that is the case.”
