Czech Republic’s Natalie Puskinova was crowned Miss Earth 2025 during the pageant’s coronation night on November 5, held at Okada Manila in the Philippines.

The Czech marketing and public relations beauty competed against 81 other beauty queens, including Philippine representative Joy Barcoma. She was crowned by Miss Earth 2024 Jessica Lane of Australia.

Iceland’s Soldis Ivarsdottir won the Miss Earth-Air title, Vietnam’s Mu Anh Trinh bagged the Miss Earth-Water crown, and Thailand’s Waree Ngamkham received the Miss Earth-Fire recognition.

The Philippines’ Barcoma ended her journey in the Top 8 and was named runner-up, alongside Chile’s Nathalie Briones, Brazil’s Laila Frizon, and Ukraine’s Mariia Zheliaskova.

Beauty and brains

The intelligence and environmental awareness of the Miss Earth 2025 winners were also evaluated by the judges aside from their unique and distinct beauties.

During the final segment of the competition, all four finalists were asked the question: “Bill Gates, a leading proponent for carbon emissions reduction, recently proposed that resources must be shifted away from the battle against climate change to efforts that prevent disease and hunger. Do you agree? Why or why not?”

Czech Republic’s Puskinova chose not to pick between the two problems in her winning answer, stressing that all people are facing the same issues.

“I believe that even though I live on the other side of the world, we are still facing the same climate change and we are facing this issue together,” the Czech beauty said.

“I believe that if we all unite, we can prevent both hunger and environmental causes. And one message I wanna say, protektahan natin ang kalikasan (Let us protect nature),” she added, according to Inquirer.net.

Iceland’s Ivarsdottir stressed in her answer that every problem in the world should be considered, while Vietnam’s Anh also shared similar sentiments and stressed that climate change and hunger are both important issues today.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Ngamkham, who struggled with her translator during the segment, highlighted in her response the importance of increasing carbon tax and reducing the use of cars.

Silver edition

This year’s pageant is also significant for the Miss Earth organisation because it marked the 25th year of the beauty contest. The 2025 edition focused on the theme “The Silver Lining” to celebrate the pageant’s silver anniversary.

The Miss Earth pageant conducted its first coronation night back in 2001, guided by Carousel Productions. Denmark’s Catharina Svensson was the first-ever lady to be crowned as Miss Earth.

Carousel has been criticised by pageant analysts and fans over the past few years due to their poor stage production compared to other famous pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss World.

However, the Miss Earth organisation focused on providing a platform for beauty queens to campaign for environmental awareness despite the yearly online criticism.

Elemental winners of the pageant promote environmental projects and campaign for important causes such as cleanups throughout their reign.

The titleholders also work closely with Philippine government agencies and international environmental organisations such as the United Nations Environment Programme, Greenpeace, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Centre for Biodiversity.

Miss Earth remains as the only beauty pageant recognised by the UN for its environmental advocacies.
