Veteran Hollywood director Steven Spielberg unveiled on Tuesday the first trailer for his new sci-fi film, ‘Disclosure Day’.
The highly secretive new feature’s details have been kept under wraps for months, with the director not even revealing its name… until now.
But this is what we know: ‘Disclosure Day’ lets Spielberg step back into familiar territory, with the scenes revealed in the trailer suggesting it revolves around UFOs and extraterrestrial activities.
An ongoing mystery
Although no official synopsis has been released for the movie, the trailer already gives us an idea of a possible plot – with quite some space for speculation, too.
English actors Josh O’Connor – recently experiencing a hugely successful run with the release of the ‘Knives Out’ franchise’s third movie, ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ – and Emily Blunt can both be seen in the trailer.
O’Connor’s character appears puzzled as he seems to have found some connection to extraterrestrial activity, while Blunt can be seen stuttering, making strange sounds, and (maybe) speaking an unknown language while trying to present the weather during a news broadcast.
“People have a right to know the truth, it belongs to 7 billion people,” O’Connor’s character can be heard saying.
Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo complete the cast. However, their roles in the movie seem even more mysterious, with Firth operating a strange machine and appearing disturbed while watching something on a screen.
“Why would He make such a vast universe yet save it only for us?”, Elizabeth Marvel’s character (a nun) can be heard saying at the end of the trailer.

Back to the origins
With ‘Disclosure Day’, Steven Spielberg is once again reprising his collaboration with screenwriter David Koepp.
The two had previously worked together on some of Spielberg’s major successes, including ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘War of the Worlds’, and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’.
“It’s like old-school Spielberg,” O’Connor told Deadline in May.
“I think people will be excited,” he added.
Speaking about finally working with Spielberg, the actor said: “He’s just the most special person. He seems to have the most incredible amount of energy I’ve ever witnessed.”
“He comes up to you, he whispers in your ear like an excited child about an idea, a thought, and it’s truly inspiring.”
‘Disclosure Day’ will be out in cinemas in the summer of 2026.
