The headliners and daily line-up for Radio 1’s Big Weekend music festival, held this year in Liverpool, have been announced in full.
The festival is expected to host 100,000 music fans over the course of the three-day event in Sefton Park between May 23rd and 25th.
Funday Friday
The first night of the event will see Scotland’s finest Biffy Clyro headline the Main Stage with ‘Little Bit Of Love’ singer Tom Grennan also making an appearance.
With at least 50% of tickets being sold to local residents, home grown Indie band, the Wombats, should expect a warm welcome.
It will be the first of two summer shows in the city for the Liverpool band who are also performing at the ‘On The Waterfront’ festival at the Pier Head in June.
Huge ‘hype’ will also surround the performance from local DJ James Hype, who hails from the Wirral and has a big following in the dance music scene.
Radio 1 has confirmed The Radio 1 New Music stage will host Barry Can’t Swim, Confidence Man, D.O.D, Jazzy, Katy B, Nia Archives and Prospa.

Super Saturday
The northern sounds continue on Saturday with Stockport band Blossoms and Geordie singer Sam Fender taking to the main stage.
They will be joined by Myles Smith, Tom Odell and Wolf Alice.
Dance music fans can head over to the Radio 1 Dance Stage for sets by Radio 1 DJs Danny Howard and Sarah Story.
New acts will also be showcased on the BBC Introducing Stage.
Smooth Sunday
Closing the festival on Sunday is folk rock band Mumford & Sons who will be in the middle of a huge European tour.
The Grammy-winning band’s last tour was cut short in 2020 by the pandemic.
Singers Jorja Smith, Lola Young and Canadian Tate McRae will keep the audiences entertained right through to the end.
Although some fans expressed disappointment that all main stage headliners this year are male.
“Line-ups continue to be male dominated despite so many female musicians having such incredible times at the moment,” one X user wrote, while another says ”it should be called Radio 1’s Big Men’s Weekend”.
The festival will be broadcast live through the weekend on BBC Radio 1.
