The launching of Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza is projected to boost the economic ties between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It also demonstrates the commitment of the UAE to growing its global economic partnerships and sustainable development.
The AED440-million (EGP6.054 billion) five-star landmark luxury hotel property, as announced by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), will elevate the tourism industry in the country.
Collaborative working to reach Sustainable Development Goals
The private sectors of Egypt and the UAE have formed a strategic collaboration to support the project.
The UAE’s comprehensive strategy for assisting Egypt’s domestic development agenda and furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN, especially Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), is in line with this investment.
Through the Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company (ADTIC), ADFD is providing 84.28% of the project’s funding.
Abu Dhabi National Hotels (10.22%), Overseas Tourism Investment Company (0.4%), Misr Hotels Company (2.73%), and the Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels (2.37%) own the remaining shares.
“The Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza project is a milestone in strengthening Egypt’s tourism sector.
“Through our partnership with Accor Group, we aim to enhance the country’s hospitality landscape while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable investments and economic growth,” ADFD director general Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi was quoted by Daily News Egypt.
