Anime fans have a lot to be excited for after the yearly convention Jump Festa, which took place over the December 20-21 weekend in Tokyo, brought many exciting announcements.
From the release of new trailers for famous series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man to other key visuals being released, there really was something for everyone.
In this article, we take a look at some of the major news from the long-awaited event.
Yuji and Yuta try to kill each other, and everybody wants to kill Denji
On Saturday, a new trailer was finally released for the third season of the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen, which will premiere on January 8, 2026.
After the intense events of season two and the chaos that ensued from the Shibuya accident, Yuji Itadori and the other students of Jujutsu High will encounter new foes in Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1, with Yuji finally meeting (and fighting) powerful ‘cursed child’ Yuta Okkotsu, who is looking for revenge.
But the MAPPA anime studio was not done with the big announcements – on Sunday, Chainsaw Man fans were delighted to learn that the celebrated ‘International Assassins Arc’ from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga will be adapted into its own anime version.
Although we still do not know if these chapters will be adapted into a film (perhaps following the success of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which was released earlier this year) or series, it is still exciting news, especially considering that the first and only season of the show was released back in 2022.
On Sunday, MAPPA released a new visual and a first teaser trailer in which the leader of Tokyo’s Public Safety Division 4’s Devil Hunters, the elusive Makima, can be seen sitting inside a cinema and looking ahead as some mysterious shadows pass by.
Kaiju No. 8 reaches its final installment, Dan Da Dan to return in 2027
Fans of sci-fi anime Kaiju No. 8 also received an update after the manga came to an end earlier this year.
On Saturday, it was announced that the series will enter its final stage with the release of season three, with speculation suggesting that it could be released in 2027.
That year will mark the distribution of Dan Da Dan’s third season too, production studio Science SARU announced on Sunday, with the popular paranormal anime returning with new characters and plenty of exciting adventures.
Netflix likewise announced a second season for Sakamoto Days, with hitman-turned-konbini owner Taro Sakamoto once again dealing with enemies from the past.
Finally, new key visuals and a teaser trailer were released for One Piece, currently one of the most popular anime series in the world.
The new ‘Elbaph Arc’, in which Luffy and his pirate crew arrive at the Land of Giants, will premiere on April 5, 2026.
