Short-form fan-content creators will soon have access to assets related to Disney films and series under the agreement recently signed by The Walt Disney Company and TikTok.
Under what the companies described as a “first-of-its-kind” deal, an “expansive collection of thoughtfully curated Disney-centric fan-created content” will be brought over from TikTok to Verts on the Disney+ app.
A historic collaboration
This is the first time that TikTok videos will be shown outside the platform.
The Verts tab on Disney+ is the streaming app’s response to the rise in popularity of vertical short-form videos.
It was launched in March 2026 for US subscribers, and offers fans snippets from Disney+ movies and shows.
“Fans will enjoy a shared Disney experience with TikTok videos that will be refreshed regularly to engage subscribers more deeply in timely fan conversations, building stronger communities, and ultimately, helping them engage with more story formats across Disney+,” the companies said in a press release on August 5.
The assets that creators can access will include not just the beloved Disney classics, but also other brands, such as Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX, and more.
The project will be piloted in the US in the coming months, with plans to expand to other markets.

‘The best storytellers are fans first’
The partnership between TikTok and Disney signals the latter’s recognition of the role that fandom and fan-created content play in promoting and celebrating movies and series.
“The best storytellers are fans first,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer of The Walt Disney Company.
“That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways.”
“This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day,” he added.
An average of 6.5 million film and TV-related posts on TikTok were shared by fans each day last year, according to TikTok data.
Moreover, viewers surveyed in a TikTok-commissioned study by Ipsos said they end up watching a movie or TV show after seeing fan-made content on the platform.
