Breakout musician Doechii has had a phenomenal year thus far, despite it only being March.
From winning a Grammy for best rap album, to now earning the title of Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, her career has soared to new heights.
American rapper Doechii will be honoured as Billboard’s Woman of the Year at the annual Billboard Women in Music Awards on 29 March.
The prestigious title was previously achieved by the likes of Madonna, Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande.

Making shockwaves in the industry
The news arrives just one month after Doechii won the Grammy for best rap album for her 2024 album titled Alligator Bites Never Heal, only the third woman to win in that category.
“Doechii is taking pop culture by storm, this year becoming the third woman in history to win a Grammy best rap album.
“[She’s] dazzling fans of every musical genre with her breathtaking performances, ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style and spirit,” said Hannah Karp, Editor-in-Chief of Billboard in a statement.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Doechii and cheer on her continued success.”
The title entails not just a ceremonial recognition, but it acknowledges the artist’s work, dedication and influence in the music and fashion industry.
Doechii currently has two songs in the top half of the Billboard Hot 100, with breakout hit “Denial is a River” standing at No. 22 while her latest release “Anxiety” debuted at No. 45 this week.
The Billboard Women in Music Awards show will be held at the YouTube Theatre at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, hosted by Laverne Cox.
