Tommy Fleetwood secured his first-ever PGA Tour title at the 164th attempt on Sunday as a three-shot win at the Tour Championship saw him claim FedEx Cup glory.
The Englishman had entered the final day of action at East Lake Golf Club joint-top of the leaderboard with Patrick Cantlay – and got the job done with a two-under 68.
Fleetwood overcomes ‘erratic’ final round
Speaking after the long-awaited victory, which netted him a cool $10million (£7.39m) in prize money, Fleetwood expressed pride at how he pulled through a difficult final round.
“You just keep learning, don’t you?” he told reporters.
“I think this one – I guess there was Travelers, there was Memphis, obviously plenty before – this wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve been because, as they [misses] rack up, you obviously start to think of the things.
“I feel like I’ve had a great attitude throughout it all.
“I was a bit erratic at times, and I was really proud of how I found my swing again on the 11th hole, 12th hole. Changed my routine a little bit.”

Scottie Scheffler settles for fourth
Fleetwood finished on 18-under, with Cantlay and Russell Henley tying for second on 15-under, while world number one Scottie Scheffler, Corey Conners and Cameron Young all came in at 14-under.
Canadian Conners was the pick of the final day at East Lake, shooting an impressive 62.
Ultimately, Fleetwood’s triumph brings an end to an agonising run of near-misses for the popular 34-year-old.
On what Atlanta means for his career moving forward, Fleetwood added: “This is hopefully just one win, the first of many to come. You cannot win plenty if you don’t win the first one.”
