South Korean actor Jung Il-woo has confirmed his upcoming visit to Vietnam from July 30 to 31 to promote the Vietnamese-South Korean film “Leaving Mom.”
In the movie, Jung portrays Jeong-min, a kind-hearted South Korean man devoted to his Vietnamese wife, Le Thi Hanh.
Vietnamese actress Juliet Bao Ngoc plays the younger version of Le Thi Hanh, while Hong Dao takes on the older role, as reported by Vietnam News.
Star-studded promotional activities across Vietnam
The 38-year-old actor will take part in various promotional activities, including the film’s official premiere, a cinema tour with fan meet-and-greets across the country and a special fan event for his Vietnamese supporters.
Rated K, the film is approved for viewers under 13 with adult supervision. Advance screenings are scheduled on July 30 and 31, ahead of the official nationwide release on August 1.

Jung’s strong Vietnamese fanbase
Jung’s mid-2024 visit to Vietnam, which went viral on social media, helped strengthen his connection with Vietnamese audiences and paved the way for his role in the film.
South Korean producer Kim Dae-kuen said that the actor was invited to join the project after the team discovered that both Jung and the show “Unstoppable High Kick” were highly popular among Vietnamese audiences.
Emotional story of family and resilience
“Leaving Mom” is a joint Vietnamese-South Korean production directed by Mo Hong-jin and produced by Phan Gia Nhat Linh.
The film includes a star-studded cast from both nations, such as Hong Dao, Tuan Tran, Juliet Bao Ngoc, Jung Il-woo, Quoc Khanh, Hai Trieu and Lam Vy Da.
The story follows a son’s emotional journey as he cares for his mother who is battling Alzheimer’s disease. It delivers a heartfelt message about family while also touching on themes like friendship, love and resilience during challenging times.
