British actress Lena Headey will be joining the cast of Amazon MGM Studio’s Red, White & Royal Wedding, the highly anticipated sequel to the gay rom-com film Red, White & Royal Blue.
She will play the role of Princess Catherine, the mother of Prince Henry.
Headey is best known for her portrayal of Cersei Lannister in the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, a role that gave her five Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award nomination.
This is also not the first time that Headey has been cast in a queer film as she led the 2005 lesbian rom-com Imagine Me & You with Piper Perabo – a fact that delighted many RWRB fans.
Joining Headey as one of the newcomers is American actress and comedian Chloe Fineman, who has been a cast member of Saturday Night Live for seven seasons.
She moreover recently starred in Disney’s Freakier Friday with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Other new additions to the line-up are Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) and Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings).
Returning cast members
Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez will be reprising their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, respectively.
Amazon MGM Studios also confirmed that Uma Thurman, Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Ellie Bamber, Clifton Collins Jr., Thomas Flynn, Aneesh Sheth and Malcolm Atobrah will all be returning for the sequel.

What we know
While the plot for the sequel is yet to be announced, Red, White & Royal Wedding has already officially begun production, as confirmed by the movie’s social media channels.
In a video uploaded on January 19, Perez and Galitzine clarified that the wedding is in fact that of Princess Beatrice (played by Bamber), the younger sister of Prince Henry.
“I do want to say that we are here for Bea’s wedding,” said Perez.
Galitzine similarly added: “Yeah, we just wanted to clarify you know? Don’t get confused. That’s a long way off, at this point.”
Red, White & Royal Wedding will be directed by Jamie Babbit, with the script written by Matthew Lopez, Casey McQuiston and Gemma Burgess.
Lopez directed Red, White & Royal Blue in 2023, which is an adaptation of McQuiston’s hit 2019 novel of the same name.
There is no official release date as of now, but Red, White & Royal Blue is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
