Alternative-pop singer Lana Del Rey has fulfilled a long-time wish to create a theme for the James Bond franchise with her song “First Light”, the title track for the upcoming 007 First Light video game.
Fans are calling the Bond track a “full-circle moment” for the singer.

The singer had proposed the song ‘24’ from her album ‘Honeymoon’ for the 2015 James Bond film ‘Spectre’, only to have it rejected by producers at the time.
After being propelled to fame with her hit single ‘Video Games’, Lana Del Rey now asks listeners whether they will “play your life like a game” in this Bond track.
007 First Light marks the franchise’s first video game adaption since 2012 and will explore Bond’s origin story at MI6.
Music a huge part of James Bond identity
The song features Bond musical icon David Arnold who composed five of its themes, from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ to ‘Quantum of Solace’.
“The music of James Bond has always been a huge part of its identity,” said Arnold in a statement.
He was also excited to work with Lana, who he describes as “an artist who brought elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character to this piece”.
He hopes it will “open the world of Bond to a whole new audience”.

Bond’s return to gaming
Patrick Gibson will star as a young James Bond in the game by IO Interactive, a developer no stranger to action games with their Hitman franchise.
“It’s a joy to watch two extraordinary talents like Lana Del Rey and David Arnold combine forces,” said IO Interactive boss Hakan Abrak, adding that “the result feels instantly ‘Bond’ while still bringing a fresh identity for 007 First Light”.
“Bond’s return to gaming is a landmark moment for us at IO Interactive, and having a title song of this quality makes it even more special,” he added.
Activision, who developed the 2012 game 007 Legends, lost their exclusive license to adapt games for the Bond franchise.
007 First Light was originally meant to release in March 2026, but was pushed back to “further polish it”, according to developers.
007 First Light releases on May 27th for Xbox, PS5, and Windows. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is set to come out later in 2026.
