Green is the colour when it comes to picking your Randox Grand National runner according to research from BetSelect.co.uk, the trusted source for regulated UK betting sites.
Almost one quarter (24 per cent) of all Grand National winners since the turn of the millennium have carried green to victory, while a huge 42 per cent of those have worn a cap with white in its pattern.
Red caps have been responsible for the second-most National winners since 2000 at 13 per cent, while the second and third most successful body colours for winners of the big race are white (19 per cent) and yellow (15 per cent).
Those opting for blue on the body have seen their colours carried first past the post nine per cent if the time, while blue on the cap has crossed the line in front eight per cent of the time.

I Am Maximus prepped and ready
Speaking on behalf of BetSelect.co.uk, David Casey, who is a former jockey and assistant to last year’s winning trainer, Willie Mullins, said: “If I had to pick one I’d go with I Am Maximus. He’s had a bit of a stronger preparation this year than he did last time.
“He missed the Bobbyjo this year, but that was planned, whereas last year we hadn’t intended for him to miss it, but he missed a couple of days of work.
“This year he goes in with a much better prep.
“He won the race in 2024 and was second in it last year, so there’s no doubting that he loves the place and I’d side with him.
“He carries 11st 12lbs but I don’t think weight seems to be as much of an issue know. It’s more about class now.”
I Am Maximus will carry the famous colours of JP McManus – yellow (15 per cent rate) and green (19 per cent) hoops with a white (42 per cent) cap.
