Music news: Rosé, Katseye make waves as Asia’s Grammy nominees

Despite strong competition from artists around the world, Asian artists have once again proven that their talents shine on the global stage, with Rosé, Bruno Mars, and Katseye earning nods in major Grammy categories.

Their recognition at the Grammys only shows the growing influence of Asian artists and their impact on the music scene, which is traditionally dominated by Western performers.

Rosé, a member of South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, and Filipino-American artist Bruno Mars have snagged nominations for their hit pop song “APT.”

With over two billion streams in both YouTube and Spotify, the track has been nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Earlier, “APT.” won the Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Katseye gains global spotlight with Grammy nods

Six-member girl group Katseye is also making a name on the global stage after earning nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Gabriela.”

Beyond their universally appealing music, the group stands out for its diverse cultural makeup.

Sophia Laforteza comes from from the Philippines, Daniela Avanzini is Venezuelan-Cuban American, Lara Raj is Indian Tamil, Megan Skiendiel is Chinese-Singaporean-American and Swedish-Chinese, Manon Bannerman is Swiss-Italian-Ghanaian, and Yoonchae Jeung was born in South Korea.

Recently, the group generated buzz with their GAP ad in which they danced to Kelis’ “Milkshake.”

The performance went viral on TikTok, inspiring numerous fan recreations.

Huntr/x hits Grammy gold with “Golden”

From the widely streamed Netflix original film “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x’s song “Golden” has been nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Since its release, the track has consistently charted in the US and UK, and just last week, it surpassed Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” to claim the No. 1 spot on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100.

“Golden” has been popular for its captivating upbeat tune and empowering anthem of self‑acceptance, identity, and transformation.

The 68th Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.
