The Saigon International Guitar Festival (SIGF) is set to return to Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together leading Vietnamese guitarists and international artists.
The festival will take place from August 5 to 9 at the Grand Concert Hall of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Musicians from Argentina, Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand will perform alongside Vietnamese artists, showcasing a wide range of musical traditions, styles, and cultural influences.
Six themed concerts
The festival will feature six themed concerts, each presenting a distinct artistic concept and musical experience, Vietnam News reported.
The opening concert, “Heart, Soul and Passion,” will be held on August 5 and celebrate generations of classical guitar performers from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
The Saigon Guitar Quartet and The Winners Duo will also perform.
On August 6, “Renaissance to Modern” will take audiences on a journey spanning more than five centuries of music.
The program will feature works by Luis de Narvaez, Francisco Tarrega, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Leo Brouwer, as well as music influenced by Thai traditions.
Performers from Thailand, the Czech Republic, and Vietnam will share the stage.
The third concert, “Roses of SIGF: Asia and Europe,” will be held on August 7, bringing together European classical traditions and contemporary Asian musical energy through performances by artists from Vietnam, South Korea, and Poland.
On August 8, Guitar & Woodwind Chamber will focus on chamber music.
The first part will combine the lyrical sound of the guitar with the oboe, while the second will explore Argentina through a flute-and-guitar program inspired by the rhythms and colors of tango.

Special concerts on final day
The festival’s final day on August 9 will feature two special concerts.
“The Winners,” a free-admission event, will highlight emerging performers.
Local guitarist Vuong Quoc Anh and Indonesian guitarist Ricky O. Hermansyah, winners of the Saigon International Guitar Competition in 2024 and 2025, respectively, will perform before joining forces for the finale.
Later that afternoon, “Dances Of The Festival” will conclude the event with music inspired by dance traditions from around the world.
