Singer Jessie J has opened up to fans about her breast cancer diagnosis, stating that she will undergo surgery very soon.

The “Price Tag” singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, shared the news with her Instagram followers, revealing on a video that she has “been in and out of tests.”

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she said. “I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding on to the word early.”

Early stage

Early detection of breast cancer is crucial for effective treatment, with studies showing a significantly higher survival rate when diagnosis is at an early stage.

The singer added: “I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball [on June 15] to have my surgery. And I will come back with massive tits and more music.”

She further stated that her hesitation to share the diagnosis resulted from her battle to process it.

“I just wanted to be open and share it,” she said. “One, because selfishly I do not talk about it enough – I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard.

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book.

“It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse. That’s the bit that kills me.”

Health issues

Jessie J has had health issues throughout her life, according to BBC, having been diagnosed with a heart condition as a child, suffering a stroke when still a teenager, and briefly going deaf in 2020 due to Meniere’s disease.

Then, last year, the 37-year-old revealed that she had been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD – a moment that made her ‘rethink’ her whole life.

It’s also not the first time that Jessie J has been open about her health journey with fans, with the singer notably public about a pregnancy loss back in 2021.

She now has a two-year-old son with basketball player Chanan Colman.
