Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah and midfielder Curtis Jones have been named in England’s squad to face Albania and Latvia in March’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers at Wembley.
England manager Thomas Tuchel also made a surprise selection by adding former Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson, now playing for Ajax, in his squad for the two games.
Henderson, 34, made 360 appearances for the Merseyside club but last pulled on an England shirt in a game against Australia in October 2023.
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold misses out on a place in the squad due to injury, with Harry Maguire, Lewis Hall and Bukayo Saka also on the injured list.
Trio overlooked
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, Conor Gallagher and Adam Wharton have been overlooked by Tuchel in his first squad announcement since being named as Gareth Southgate’s successor.
But the former Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss has included Marcus Rashford following his return to form since moving to Villa Park on loan from Manchester United.

England will play Albania in the capital on Friday, March 21, and then play hosts to Latvia on Monday, March 24, with both games kicking off at 7.45pm.
Tuchel clearly values experience as he also included AC Milan’s loan star Kyle Walker and Newcastle defender Dan Burn in his squad, while also handing versatile Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly – who can also play at left-back – his first senior call-up.
