Trophy tensions erupt in Baller League UK’s eventful final matchday

Baller League UK matchday 11

On Monday May 18, the UK iteration of the flashy six-a-side Baller League hosted its 11th matchday in a packed, high-stakes evening.

The football tournament, which features celebrity managers and dynamic game rules, is approaching the end of its third season after first launching in 2025.

The concluding Final Four match is set to take place next week at the O2 in London, and will determine the season’s trophy winner.

Hence, Monday was a crucial day to decide which teams would officially be in the running to become the Season 3 champions.

Racing towards the Golden Boot and the Final Four

KSI’s Prime FC kicked off the first game with a vengeance, looking to prove themselves after a shaky last few games.

The team of super strikers not only managed to win and secure their Final Four placement, but also went on to set a new record for most goals scored in all three seasons at a total of 55.

Their top scorer, Francis Mampolo, fell just short of the top goal scorer title, with the two other Golden Boot contenders facing each other in the next match.

While N5’s Michael Hill was able to secure the most goals scored for Season 3, he ended the season with an injury, as well as a loss for the team.

Deportrio’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was surely saddened to miss his Golden Boot reward after a stellar season, but was pleased to claim their ticket to the final.

The battle for the final spot

Matches three and four were critical moments to determine who the fourth team to make it to the end would be.

After a miraculous road to victory in Season 1, and a last second Final Four slot in Season 2, SDS manager Sharky was looking to score another late entry in a tight battle for the final spot.

His team did more than simply deliver and defeated Idris Elba’s Rukkas FC while almost becoming the first team to score 10 goals.

The second half of the matchday continued the high stakes battle as Ian Wright’s Wembley Rangers now had no choice but to get a win to earn a place in the Final Four.

Anything less than the three victory points would see Wright’s Season 2 winners forfeit their shot at a trophy streak, instead allowing Sharky’s Season 1 victors to try again.

Unfortunately for Wright, Gold Devils continued their dream killing habits in incredible fashion.

Following a 2-0 victory, Mark Goldbridge’s team locked out the Rangers, while also scoring their first ever penalty and ending the season with a rare third clean sheet.

Late-game antics

The Final Four were already confirmed through the table’s standings, meaning that the next two games had no real impact on the season.

Yet despite the low stakes, their entertainment manifested in more creative ways.

Managers AngryGinge and Niko Omilana faced off in match five – and not only from the sidelines.

The two YouTube personalities suited up and took to the pitch, with Niko on the bench and Ginge in goal.

Although both charismatic characters have scored at Wembley Stadium during the creator-led Sidemen Charity Matches, it’s safe to say the Baller League skill level was higher.

As fate would have it, the 100th penalty of the season went to Niko’s NDL, and the Youtuber managers duelled in a thrilling 1v1.

Despite his team’s outstanding season, Niko definitely felt the knock from Ginge blocking his shot with a charging save.

A similar scene repeated for the 101st penalty, and Ginge’s Yanited went on to win 4-3 following a series of impressive saves from the guest goalkeeper.

The season’s exciting evening ended with a truly stakeless bout between Clutch FC and the Community FC.

In a surprise appearance, Ginge returned to the pitch as an official referee for the game, which was organised after his repeated criticisms of poor decisions throughout the league.

He gave an impressive officiating debut and the match saw both teams leaving their hearts on the pitch in a tight and exhilarating closing face-off.

Tyler Winters scored six goals for Chloe Kelly’s Clutch to inflate their lead to 8-6, while the season’s weakest team still delivered a powerful statement performance.

Even though both teams showed up when it mattered least, they closed off their seasons, and matchday 11, in an electric fashion.

Sparks to fly next Monday

The Final Four will see the four teams at the top of the table play against each other in three knockout games, with the remaining winner crowned as Season 3’s champions.

In addition, the evening will include a Creators vs Legends friendly match, as well as a surprise musical performance.

The trophy could belong to anybody, as each of the four finalists are equally competitive, dangerous and determined to secure the win.

The Baller League UK’s Final Four takes place on Monday 25 at the O2 Arena in London, and will also be available to watch on SkySports, YouTube and Twitch.
