Indonesian player Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi has officially left Turkish volleyball club Manisa BBSK, according to the team’s official statement on Instagram.
The Manisa-based club signed Megawati this year to boost their campaign in Kadinlar 1. Ligi. It is currently ranked sixth with two wins and one loss in Group A of the league.
Manisa BBSK shared that Megawati’s contract was terminated because she failed to rejoin the international team after her stint in the 2025/2026 Livoli Premier Division.
“Our player, Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, traveled to Indonesia to participate in the Livoli Premier Division tournament as stipulated in the contract.
“However, despite being asked to rejoin the team three days after the tournament ended, the player failed to fulfill this obligation,” the club’s statement read.
Personal decision
Megawati also released a message on Instagram after the development, explaining that her exit from the Turkish club team was a personal decision.
“It’s true that I no longer have a contract with Manisa BBSK. This was truly my personal request and was a mutual agreement; nothing was forced,” the Indonesian volleyball star said.
Megawati played for the South Korean volleyball team Daejeon Jung Kwan Jang Red Sparks for several tournaments before signing with Manisa BBSK.
She also apologised to her fans for disappointing them with her early exit from the Turkish team and encouraged them to avoid further speculations about the matter.
Megawati said that she is now focusing on her duties with the Indonesian national team as part of their preparations for upcoming international tournaments, including the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
