The Turkish city of Uludag will host a 2026 FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour event this March.

World-elite snow volleyball athletes and teams will be welcomed into Türkiye from March 26 to 29, the International Volleyball Federation has announced.

The northwestern Turkish city previously hosted an event during the 2017 and 2018 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour.

Strong partnership

The FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour was first established in 2019 with the northeastern venue Palandoken a previous Turkish tour stop in 2025.

Iran’s men’s snow volleyball team and Türkiye’s women’s squad won the 2025 World Tour titles.

Teams will compete for the $10,000 total prize pool in the Bursa Teleferik Uludag station in Uludag’s alpine landscape.

The upcoming event in Türkiye is expected to further promote snow volleyball, the FIVB already promoting snow volleyball’s inclusion into the Winter Olympics.

Olympic Hopes

In 2018, a special snow volleyball match was conducted during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea to encourage the International Olympic Committee to recognise the growth of the sport.

China also recently hosted the 2026 China International Snow Volleyball Invitational Tournament, featuring local teams and guest players from France and Russia.

The Chinese event was meant to help support the potential inclusion of snow volleyball in the Winter Olympics.

FIVB president Fabio Azevedo said: “If the Olympic movement believes that snow volleyball can help promote the Winter Games I would say, ‘Why not?’

“It has a special ball for snow, it’s amazing.”

Azevedo also pointed out that the possible inclusion of snow volleyball in the Winter Games could give an opportunity for new nations to win winter medals.

He said that Latin American and African teams would have the opportunity to earn rare medals with similar skills required as beach volleyball.
