Roman Reigns successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Penta in the luchador’s home country of Mexico in the latest episode of Raw.
Reigns and Penta battled in the Arena CDMX in Mexico City with a hot crowd all cheering for their compatriot.
Before the show, Penta arrived in the arena in style as he rode on horseback surrounded by a sea of supporters.
Penta earned the privilege of facing the dominant Tribal Chief by winning an eight-man tournament that featured luchadores from both WWE and AAA.
The 41-year-old debuted in the company last year, and became the first Mexican-born professional wrestler to win the Intercontinental Championship.
After losing the belt to Chad Gable in SummerSlam, Penta looked to win something greater.
Biggest match of Penta’s career
Penta made his homecoming entrance wearing Aztec garb, with the crowd all chanting for the luchador as he prepared for the biggest match in his career.
Reigns entered the arena to a chorus of boos that rained upon him as he looked to defend his gold on hostile territory.
The crowd went ballistic every time Penta landed his manoeuvres, and it was the opposite when Reigns had any momentum.
The two combatants went back-and-forth, but Penta gained a significant advantage when he hit Reigns with The Sacrifice to immobilise his opponent’s right arm.
It took effect moments later when Reigns readied for a Superman Punch but reeled in pain instead as Penta hit him with a Dropkick.
Later on, Reigns once again went for a Superman Punch but Penta countered with a Penta Driver, but The Tribal Chief kicked out from the pinfall attempt.
Realising that Reigns was still hurt, Penta then tried to end the bout with a Mexican Destroyer, but the champion countered with a Superman Punch.
The counter-attack was not enough to put the Mexican down, and emotions ran high across the arena.

Heartbreak in Mexico City
Late in the bout, an exhausted Reigns grabbed a microphone and taunted the crowd, calling them to “acknowledge me.”
Reigns then went for a spear, but Penta countered with a Superkick and transitioned to a Springboard Mexican Destroyer, but Reigns still kicked out from the three-count.
Penta unleashed three Superkicks to Reigns, but the champion was alert enough to hit a Superman Punch to counter the luchador’s Springboard attempt.
Reigns then won by hitting Penta with a Spear, leaving the crowd emotional at the defeat of their hero.
