Global Korean-pop sensation TWICE will temporarily step away from activities from this day onwards, marking the first official hiatus in the group’s 11-year career.

The announcement was shared by leader Jihyo, who revealed that the members have decided to take a well-deserved break after completing their recent world tour.

According to her, as reported by allkpop, the members have spent more than a decade continuously promoting as a group while also balancing individual projects.

She explained that the break will allow each member to rest, recharge, and focus on personal growth before returning to activities together.

Fans express support, understanding

Meanwhile, fans, collectively known as ONCE, have responded with overwhelming support over the announcement.

Across social media platforms, many expressed understanding and appreciation for the group’s decision, emphasising that the members truly deserve time to rest after years of nonstop schedules.

“Totally understandable. YES, you all really need a happy break. You work hard just to make your fans happy. You all deserve a break!” one commented on the One Twice Support X account’s post that announced the news.

“I’m so happy with this decision. It’s what I was hoping for. I don’t want to see anyone complaining, huh, they fully deserve to take a break,” another added.

They have also reassured the group that they would patiently await their return.

On TikTok, many made edits of TWICE to celebrate their favorite moments and show how much they miss the group. These edits often express excitement and anticipation while fans wait for TWICE’s next comeback.

“I hope they come back healthy and happy,” they expressed.

Temporary breaks from industry becoming more common

Industry observers note that temporary breaks have become increasingly common among artists seeking to prioritise physical and mental well-being while sustaining long-term careers.

For TWICE, the hiatus is viewed not as an ending but as an opportunity for renewal and future creative growth.
