New city, new job, new flame. Emily Cooper is indeed living la dolce vita!
Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for Season 5 of the romantic comedy-drama “Emily in Paris”, which takes the Chicago-born marketing executive from the iconic landmarks of the French capital to the cobblestoned streets of Rome.
The new season, premiering on December 18, picks up with Emily (Lily Collins) relocating to the Eternal City to run Agence Grateau’s office there, and her falling in love with the dashing Italian fashion heir, Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini).
Ciao, Roma!
Season 5’s one-minute trailer, released on October 22, begins with Emily opening a window and a voice-over by her new beau.
“We start on a beautiful woman… she’s joined by a man,” Marcello says in the trailer, which shows clips of the couple’s steamy, burgeoning romance.
“It’s clear they know each other. Unable to keep their hands off each other, eventually sharing a kiss.”
Emily’s best friend, Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), later appears and tells her, “Rome looks good on you.”
The rest of the trailer features Emily adjusting to her new job, having fun at extravagant parties, touring Roman ruins on a Vespa, and cruising through the canals of Venice – all while looking very stylish, of course!
Emily’s co-workers – Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Luc (Bruno Gouery), and Julien (Samuel Arnold) – make an appearance in Rome at the end, with the latter asking: “If we are all here, who’s in Paris?”
Joining the cast this season are Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, a royal friend of Emily’s boss, Sylvie; Michele Laroque as Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie’s; and Bryan Greenberg as an American living in Paris.
Emily’s former love interests – Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie Peterson (Lucien Laviscount) – are noticeably missing from the trailer, but are confirmed to be returning for Season 5.

Tale of two cities
“Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star described the fifth season as a “tale of two cities”, with Emily juggling her time between Rome and Paris, and taking love and life to the next level.
“From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us,” he told Netflix’s Tudum when Season 5 began filming in May.
While Emily is going to have a presence in Rome, Star assured fans that “it doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris”.
