Roman Reigns was the last man standing in Saturday’s “Royal Rumble”, outlasting 29 other competitors for a shot at a world championship at the main event of “WrestleMania 42” in April.
The win marks Reigns’ second “Royal Rumble” victory, as he won the 2015 iteration of the event and challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.
The “Royal Rumble” is a battle royale where 30 wrestlers try to eliminate each other.
A superstar is out of the match if they are thrown over the top rope of the ring with both feet hitting the floor.
Entrants one and two start out the match and a new participant will enter the ring after 90 seconds.
Reigns entered late in the bout as the 26th entrant.
But it was still a challenge for the “Tribal Chief” as he had to face off some tough competition, including his archrival Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso and LA Knight among others.
Reigns conquers the Rumble
Alongside Reigns, the coveted final four of this year’s match was Randy Orton, who entered at 29; Gunther, the last entrant at 30; and Logan Paul, who was in the match for 24 minutes as he entered at number 20.
The closing minutes of the match were fast-paced, as Reigns quickly dumped out Paul, leading Orton to give an “RKO” to the eventual winner.
But Orton was quickly intercepted by Gunther, throwing him out of the ring.
Coming out at the number 30 spot is a huge advantage for Gunther, but he sustained damage from his match earlier in the night where he was victorious against AJ Styles, who had to retire after losing as a stipulation.
The Saudi Arabia crowd was electric, and it was clear that Reigns was the favourite of the last two competitors.
Gunther tried to choke the air out of Reigns with multiple “Sleeper Holds”, but the “Tribal Chief” utilised his ring awareness to escape from the hold.
After doing his signature roar, Reigns delivered a massive “Spear” to the “Ring General” and eliminated him for the win.

Reigns challenges Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship
Reigns now has to pick a championship belt to go after, either CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship or Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship.
It was clear which belt Reigns is going to pursue, as he entered Punk’s territory of “Raw”, with the two having a heated exchange in the latest episode.
Reigns aired his grievances and expressed his dislike of Punk, simply choosing him over McIntyre because he hates him.
“I’m picking you because I hate you. I’ve always hated you. And ‘WrestleMania’ is going to be the best day of my life because in the main event, you will acknowledge me.”
