Kristin Cabot, the former HR executive who went viral in 2025 following a Coldplay concert kiss cam moment, has finally come out to share her side of the story.

Cabot recently appeared on “The Oprah Podcast” with Oprah Winfrey to speak about the viral incident that took place during a Coldplay concert in July 2025.

The moment, which went viral on social media, showed Cabot and her then colleague, former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, embracing each other at a Coldplay concert before awkwardly pulling away when they realised they were on the stadium’s big screen.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin added to the moment, joking to the crowd that the pair were either “very shy” or “having an affair”, which sparked immediate speculation online.

Following the incident, Byron resigned from the company, with Cabot following suit shortly after, and in August 2025, she filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot.

Correcting the narrative

The sit-down with media mogul Winfrey was her first and only on-camera interview. She decided to be interviewed as a way to correct the narrative.

“For my family and me, what happened was not okay, and I felt that by remaining silent it was somehow accepting what had happened,” she said.

She also added that she felt a sense of responsibility to speak out on behalf of people who went through something similar and didn’t have the courage to speak out.

Cabot explained during the interview that she and her husband had already separated weeks before the concert and were in the process of ending their marriage.

She also addressed the nature of her relationship with Byron, explaining that both of them had shared that they were separated from their partners at the time.

Horrified reaction

Speaking about that moment, Cabot said that she experienced “a moment of total horror” as soon as she saw herself on screen.

She explained that her estranged husband was also at the concert, something she had only just found out before the show began.

“My initial thought was, ‘Oh, my God, my husband’s in the building,’” she said.

For Cabot, her main concern at the time was not public opinion, but the possibility of embarrassing her husband.

Cabot described the viral moment as overwhelming, saying that her first reaction was panic.

“Everybody assumed I was horrified because it meant somehow I got busted having an affair. That is not what was happening,” she added.

Unfortunately, the incident’s virality took a life of its own.

Reflecting on the situation, she admitted to poor judgement.

“I own the poor decision that I made at that moment. I’ve paid an unimaginable price for that. That is why I chose to leave my job because I think I put the company in a position you can’t come back from,” she said.

The aftermath?

The 52-year-old revealed that she endured severe backlash following the incident, receiving death threats that affected both her and her children.

She told Winfrey that she has cut ties with Byron and that she no longer has any relationship with him.

“I ended my communication with Andy in midfall. There was a big miss on honesty and integrity,” she added.

“I don’t… he didn’t, he wasn’t the person he represented himself to be to me, and lying is not a non-negotiable for me.”

She emphasised how she had to endure most of the scrutiny, stating: “The man has no role in this. I was the face of all of this. There was no one talking about Andy’s hair, shirt or watch.”
