Taylor Swift’s new song written for “Toy Story 5,” titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” is breaking streaming records across different music streaming platforms hours after its release.
According to Spotify, the song is now “the most-streamed country song in a single day by a female artist in Spotify history.”
Meanwhile, Apple Music stated that the song achieved the “all-time record for the biggest soundtrack single, based on first-day plays.”
It also became the platform’s “biggest country single of 2026.”
Amazon Music revealed that the song is its “biggest first 24-hour streaming debut globally for any song” in 2026.
Swift returns to pop country with ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’
Swift and Pixar hinted at the pop star’s possible involvement with “Toy Story 5” in multiple easter eggs, building anticipation for “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
The singer revealed that she has written a song for the movie’s soundtrack on June 1, confirming the rumours.
Meanwhile, the music video for the song was released exclusively on Apple Music and Spotify Premium on June 5.
It features a compilation of iconic scenes with the cowgirl rag doll Jessie.
“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” Swift stated.
“Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.”
“Being a ‘Toy Story’ kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
“I fell instantly in love with ‘Toy Story 5’ when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?” the singer added.
The singer-songwriter also expressed gratitude to musician Randy Newman, the creator of the well-known “Toy Story” hit song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and co-songwriter Jack Antonoff.

The song was kept a secret from the film crew
According to the movie’s VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan, the crew of the “Toy Story 5” had no idea that the megastar had contributed a song for the movie.
“Turns out, Taylor Swift is a huge ‘Toy Story’ fan like many of us,” Jordan said.
“She actually saw an early version of the film, she requested to see it before it was finished and she wrote the song and then asked us if we wanted it. And we said, ‘Uh, yes! Yes we do.’”
“That was in February, so we’ve had to keep it a secret ever since then,” he added.
“The crew that made ‘Toy Story 5’ did not know about this secret until last week.”
The theatrical release date of “Toy Story 5” is set for June 19, 2026.
